This includes two decades of work in Southern and East Africa, where he is a highly regarded proponent of clarity, accountability and transparency. He serves as a global advisor on public financial management communications.

As a sought-after thought leader in South Africa, her work is widely published. She is the managing director of our sister company, Cover2Cover.

Jane leads our South African head office. With a background in marketing and public relations, Jane has broad strategic communications and client service expertise. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in law and English.

Shaista holds a Master’s degree in economics and philosophy from the London School of Economics. Before joining Clarity, she was an economist with the South African Reserve Bank. As a writer and editor, she helps Clarity’s clients develop evidence-based, strategic communications suited to their target audiences.

Lara is a writer, editor and project manager focusing on global sustainable development. She has more than a decade of experience in communicating complex ideas in plain language. Lara holds an Honours degree in media from the University of Cape Town.

He holds a PhD in English literature from the University of Cape Town and has more than a decade of experience as a lecturer and tutor in Europe and South Africa. He is the co-author of Become a Better Writer: How to Write with Clarity and Simplicity.

Elize is a publisher and editor with extensive experience in leading teams on complex publishing projects from concept to delivery. Before joining the publishing industry, she worked as an English teacher. Elize holds an Honours degree in English from the University of the Western Cape.

He has since worked for a number of publications, NGOs and companies in Hong Kong, Europe and South Africa. In recent years, Nick has increased his focus on the climate crisis and the energy transition.

Karen has more than 20 years’ experience as a technical editor. She specialises in plain English and is highly regarded for her interpretive skills. Karen also edits fiction. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Syracuse University.

Tessa has a strong reporting background in Afrikaans- and English-language publications. She has produced turn-key corporate communications for a range of clients, including in the mining, legal, enterprise development and financial services industries.
